Cosmetic
Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is  a natural and effective non invasive alternative to botox or surgery.  The treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production to smooth the skin organically. The treatment involves a gentle facial massage followed by needling of the face with tiny needles. This is a very relaxing and rejuvenating treatment. Cosmetic acupuncture is most effective when done as a course of treatments.  For the best results, it is recommended to sign up for a package of 8 treatments over 4 weeks.

“I have been attending Kate for cosmetic acupuncture and since doing so have received many comments on how well I look. I have a holistic approach, exercise and eat well. I know from my own research that cosmetic acupuncture has been shown to make a difference in improving skin etc. Kate is very professional and the treatments are always enjoyable. I'd rather spend my money on my acupuncture sessions than on lotions and potions!”

Tuina
Massage

Tuina massage differs from a traditional body massage as it stimulates the flow of qi and blood in the body in a similar way to acupuncture needles. Specific points are targeted depending on the presenting condition and pressure is then applied using different massage techniques. Tuina massage may be used in conjunction with the acupuncture treatment depending on the issue presented.

Electro
Acupuncture

Electro acupuncture uses a small electro machine machine with delicate crocodile clips that attach to the acupuncture needle. The number of clips used in an electro acupuncture treatment is between 2 and 6. When turned on, a mild electrical current passes between the needles which helps in stimulating muscles for repair, improved circulation and pain relief. Electro acupuncture can also be effectively used to assist with weight loss. The intensity of the electrical current is completely in control of the person receiving treatment & the treatment is not painful.

Moxa

Moxa is a Chinese herb called Mugwort that is dried and can be used in lots of different ways. Moxa is generally heated and then held over an acupuncture point or attached to the needle which creates a pleasant warming sensation on the area being treated. The herb itself (mugwort) has healing properties which, combined with the heat makes it very good for increasing qi and blood in the area being treated. It is especially good for chronic pain or muscle tension that is worse with exposure to cold or damp weather as with some types of arthritis pain.  When applied to acupuncture points that strengthen and lift the qi, moxibustion can boost the immune system and help with fatigue, digestive issues, and much more.

Heat Lamp

The TDP lamp is an electromagnetic lamp which increases microcirculation in the body. This loosens fascia and muscles and also accelerates the natural healing processes of the body. The heat deeply penetrates the body to between 2 and 3.5 inches and results in great relief for muscular issues as well as restoring qi to the body.

Cupping

Cupping treatment involves placing cups onto the skin to create a vacuum which helps to increase the flow of blood and Qi , loosen fascia, stimulate healing and remove toxins. It is thought to affect tissues up to 4 inches deep from the skin. Cupping is like a reverse massage – instead of pushing into the tissue, it pulls.

Toxins can be released, and blockages can be cleared during a cupping treatment.  It is also a very good treatment for the lungs and can clear congestion from a common cold and  help to control asthma. It can also help with the digestive system and relieving constipation.

Two different types of cupping are fire cupping and dry cupping.  Fire cupping generally gives a stronger suction and is good if the underlying condition is cold.  Dry cupping tends to be more targeted and the level of suction more easily controlled. Cupping can be combined with massage oil to slide the cups up and down the back.  This is a very relaxing and rejuvenating treatment.
