Emotional Wellbeing

Conditions for emotional well being that I treat include but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, insomnia and stress.

At some point in life, everyone deals with upheavals or emotional distress. These events can trigger a host of unexpected feelings and behaviours from depression, anxiety and panic attacks to simply ‘feeling low’, ‘off form’ , stressed or lacking in energy.

In Chinese Medicine, emotional difficulties can cause a disruption in the flow of Qi (energy) through the body. Diagnosis is based on presenting symptoms on the day and will vary from person to person. Further symptoms arising from emotional disorders can manifest as pain, sleep disturbance, insomnia, low immune system, palpitations, abnormal digestion, headaches and menstrual difficulties. Acupuncture can assist with re balancing the body and directly improve your emotional wellbeing.

Acupuncture can be effective both in addition to or as alternative to medication and other therapies. Acupuncture treatments have a relaxing and calming effect which is especially helpful for people experiencing an emotional difficulty. It can also help relieve the tension associated with chronic stress and anxiety.

Patients should never come off prescribed medication without consulting with their GP first.
